Elective c section by under GA?

Due to complications during my last labour I ended up with a post dural puncture and was essentially bed bound for 4 weeks following my DD birth.
I have been instructed that I am under no circumstances to be given a spinal in the future and have just found out I am pregnant again (still early days but very excited)!
So I am left with the option to try for a VBAC without option for epidural, or to elect for a c section under GA.
However, I have doubts about being unconscious for my DC birth and DH not being in the room either.
Has anyone had an elective GA? Did it affect breastfeeding / latching, recovery or bonding at all?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Is dh definitely not allowed in the operating room? I know for an emergency csection under ga he wouldn’t be there but I’m surprised if that’s the case for an elective.
Congratulations! Sorry you find yourself in this difficult situation

Had emergency C section, so GA and everything was fine. Next birth was VBAC & although baby was presented wrong it was a forceps delivery

Had emergency C section under GA. from personal experience the immediate recovery was very hard. Wasn't successful with breastfeeding and I really struggled to come to terms with the birth. Might be slightly different with it being planned. At the end of the day you need to go with what you feel is best for you. I don't envy your decision but I now View childbirth as more a means to an end. Lately there is such an emphasis on it being this 'experience' but at the end of the day it's about the time you spend with your baby after. Good luck with it all x

I had a GA for my first and it was semi elective. I had to have the c section earlier then planned so it was at 35 weeks
I had to have a GA because I had a huge infection several times in my kidney and on my skin (from a urine bag going into the kidney directly) so they wouldn't give me a spinal incase it pulled the bacteria into my spine.

I have to say the pain after wards was horrific for days. So so so so sore.

But. I healed great. Bonded fine. My son did go to special care so I think this affected it more then anything my bond and my healing.

Second son I had a spinal block and the pain relief was stark and different. I healed the same but I was up and about much more quickly.

I had a c section under GA. The circumstances were difficult (baby was v sick and in NICU for a while), but physically it was fine for me. I was up on my feet a couple of hours after waking up, had no problem with my milk even though I was separated from baby and had to express. Good luck with whichever option you choose!
