hello! just wanted to say thanks for advice on show/waters last week. i stuck at home until late thurs afternoon (reminding myself to relax and stay put by referring to your early labour mistakes webpage), got to hosp around 4:30 and gave birth to 8lb 11oz gorgeous girl at 1858 in the birthing pool after such a good birth i feel evangelical about how great giving birth can be! no tearing or cutting or stiches...no intervention at all, just a wonderful midwife at queen charlottes. the whole day was great (and so v different to dd1's birth)
so thanks again, you really helped!

it's so great that mumsnet brings people together like this. it really does make a difference. i wish i'd been on here first time round but am so happy to have had this good experience.
ooh the baby awakes.... (after a jolly good sleep for us both!)...better go feed! x

Oh my ....

It could just have easily been Lulu, or Daisymoo or any of the other lovely Doulas or MWs that posted.

But I'm glad it was me! Gives me a bit of much needed confidence.

THANK YOU so much for the update!

I am so pleased you had a lovely birth and that you have a scrummy girl to get to know! She is very likely to be the most contented baby you'd ever meet, if the Waterbirth baby I know is anything to go by...

Enjoy your babymoon and remember that while you feel like Superwoman, you are, in fact, not! Take it very easy, rest in bed and feed that gorgeous girl. Your pelvic floor needs plenty of rest and respect for quite a while!

Hark at me, I sound so much like an old mother Hen!

I'd like to second that for all the doulas and mw's who post on Mumsnet. I know I've already said but I too had a great birth yesterday, thanks in no small way to all the advice and information relayed by those posters on Mumsnet during my pregnancy. After a nightmare first birth, a quick, easy, intervention free birth was exactly what I had hoped for but really didn't think I could have (esp as more or less had to have a hospital birth) - but it was! I really appreciate the time people take to give advice as it was so helpful too me. With the state that UK maternity services seemingly are in in many cases, what a fantastic resource this is to empower women to go out and have the births they want!
