Hot water bottle for contractions?

Is it safe to use a hot water bottle in early labour on my abdomen? I won’t fill it entirely with boiling will put some cold in too!

Been having pains for over an hour now About every 10-7 mins. Could this be it?!

I’m sure midwives offer these in hospital so as long as it’s not piping hot it will be ok x best of luck! Is this your first? A warm bath might help?

It is so I’m well aware it could all just stop and start! Had a few hours of v mild pains on Sunday night but was able to get to sleep. Having to breathe through these ones now. Eek!

A nice warm shower or bath is good - but a hottie lasts longer ! Do what makes you feel better - and best wishes !

Oh yes. Fond memories here of snuggling up to a hot water bottle watching a movie on TV (or trying to) while waiting for contractions to get intense enough to go to hospital. A long time ago, but I haven't forgotten.

OP, a bath might be nice as a pp says. Soothing & relaxing. Best of luck!

A hot water bottle on my lower back got me through my labour, I took it to hospital with me, it definitely helped. Good luck

When I had a bath it really got my contractions going 😬 hope it is a quick ‘easy’ labour for you - it’s so worth it when they are in your arms! :)

Unfortunately we have a hot water tank so I’ll have to wait for that to heat up, hot water bottle will do in the meantime I think! I sort of can’t be bothered to get out of bed in case it stops but I know it’s feeling worse lying down. I’m 39+6 and always thought I’d go over so not quite believing this is it just yet!

Thanks everyone for the help, 42 hours of solid contractions later Shock he finally arrived at 8pm earlier this evening! Just propping my eyes open with matchsticks and trying to figure out what the hell we do with him Grin
