ELCS dates?

Does anyone know when ELCS are booked in for in relation to the due date please? I have hopefully got an ELCS approved for MH reasons but no word yet of the dates or anything. I've heard they are done in week 39 but I don't know if that's accurate.

My due date is 4 days after my own birthday and I'm just wondering whether the baby might be born on my birthday, or even before?

In week 39 unless needed for medical reasons earlier.

I had a csection at 39+2 weeks (breech baby picked up at a 34 week scan).

I'm getting my date on the 27th of this month but my hospital only do electives on a Thursday and I was told it will be the Thursday of the 39th week

Mine was 39+1, the hospital offered 39+4 but that was the day before xmas eve and I wanted to be home for Christmas .
I’m pretty certain they said it had to be wk 39 but were flexible Where in that week it was x

I was also told Week 39 unless medical intervention is needed earlier.

My elective was 39+5.

Another week 39 here, mine is at 39+5

Generally week 39 if all else is ok. After that it’s down to hospital policy. My local hospital does ELCS 4 days a week (5th day being reserved for private patients). Within those 4 days, they might schedule you, say, for the Monday but, if there are too many emergencies, they’ll tell you on the day to come in the following day instead, and so it goes unless your own waters break.

I had a similar birthday-related situation around my ELCS and the lovely admin people were beyond helpful, but it was never possible to pin anything down. In the end ended up having DD in week 38 anyway, for medical reasons.

The ELCS was a really good experience for me, all the best with it!

Ok, thanks. And this is a reeeeally stupid question but is the 39th week the one beginning 39?? As in, if you are exactly 39 weeks today, is next week week 39?

Yes! Not stupid at all, always confused me too.

Yes - if you’re 39 weeks today, then your section would probably be booked for at some point between tomorrow (39+1) and Wednesday (39+6). They don’t usually do electives earlier without a physical medical indication to reduce risk of baby having breathing difficulties.
