Slow labour ??

Ok it's baby number 3 and iv no idea if I'm in slow labour or not. I'm not having contractions but I'm in agony in my back and keep getting sharp pains in my bum... I really hope this is the start to labour but my back is just in bits then when baby moves I do have to take breaths, my other 2 was contractions from the get go pretty much and was pretty quick labours and I know their never the same so I don't know if this is slow labour or not

I'm 39 weeks so I am hoping that it is.

Also I wanted a home birth but the midwife told me not to as it isn't as safe whilst it's number 3 and I could hemmorage or baby get stuck or cord wrapped etc so I'm best at hospital don't know if anyone has been through this ??

(Other 2 births were fine was home less then 24 hours with DS (he was born to late to be discharged -- and home within 3 hours with DD an no complications with either
So I don't get why she's telling me it's a bad idea

Any advice mums ? X

My contractions were all in my back so I only felt sharp pains in it rather than my front so you may well be in labour. Did you challenge the midwife as to why she thought you were at risk for home birth when your other births were straight forward?

One of my close friends had 3 home births, bit try not to think too much about it now.
There is such a thing as 'back labour' where you feel all the pain in your back, so you could very much be in the early stages. I would recommend calling hospital for advice, particularly being your 3rd as it might progress quickly

Baby may of just moved down? I've been having period type back ache and lower bump ache since 2 weeks ago. Also getting the lightning crotch and the pain in my bum at my midwife app last week baby had moved down so I persume this is why. 34 weeks here now.

Keep an eye on it I do have more back labour than front this is also my 3rd baby it could be slow labour I would contact hospital and ask their advice if you was wanting to get checked out.

I've never had a home birth but I don't get why it would be worst for your 3rd? Sure those things could happen in 1st 2nd and subsequent pregnancies too so then home birth would be a no no for everyone unless there is medical reasons on why she's saying it for yourself x

Thank you all.
Yea I did question it she just said I'm at more a risk of hemmoraging but then she pointed out. If I do go the hospital I will get a little break once baby's born just to have time with new baby without the other 2 so that was a fair point

But it's been happening since yesterday morning just constant back pain then pains in my bum and then sharp pains in my floo every now and again. I do think it's slow labour but it keeps coming and going but once I get a contraction il be straight at the hospital. With DD(2) I had a contraction an they said get a bath. As soon as I got in I started to push an only just made it to the hospital door lol

But my belly has dropped loads since I last took a bump pic on Thursday so baby is deffo looking for the light 😂 x

Maybe the baby is back to back

@NameChange30 I didn't think of that!
My DS was back to back and I can feel all the baby's boney bits an see them moving in the front of my belly so very high chance of this.... x
