Trouble booking an elective caesarean

Hello, can anyone that's had an elective caesarean tell me at what point during their pregnancy did they get it booked in? I've been trying to get mine confirmed for a while now and a few complications have made my referral delayed. I'm only 31 +4 but my anxiety is fully kicking in about it! 🙈 My midwife isn't going to refer me back to the consultant for me to plead my case about it until my 34th week appointment with her in Jan. I'm worried about how long it will take from the referral to the actual appointment and then getting me scheduled in, assuming theres no more delays?

TIA

I didn’t get my date until 35 weeks and it was for 39+6 weeks. As it was an elective, they wouldn’t book me for earlier than 39 weeks.

I told my midwife I wanted one at my booking appointment, she made me an appointment to see the consultant at around 20 weeks to discuss it, then saw I him again at 34 weeks to get my date and had it at 39 weeks

I was seen by consultant at12 weeks told her I wanted one she said yeah fine I get my date when I see her in January at 28 weeks x

I saw consultant approx 30 weeks who said "yes, fine". I go back at week 35/36 to book in, it will happen during week 39 (unless labour starts earlier, in which case go straight to hospital).

I'm also going back to see the consultant again at 36 weeks (next week! Shock) and was told I would get a date then

I'm a midwife. Where I work nobody is booked for a routine elective section date until 36 weeks. It works much better that way as otherwise we found if we did it before there were too many swaps with people changing their minds, having an emergency earlier, etc. Then the slots would be full....but actually when you went through the book some had already delivered and not been crossed off.

Stupiddriver1 · 11/12/2019 16:25

So if you see your midwife at 34/40 I'd expect you to get seen by the consultant at about 36/40 and get given a date then.

Ok, thank you all. Seems like it can vary quite a bit, but that hopefully I've still got adequate time to get reviewed and booked in. The whole reason I've requested it is because I suffer from seizures which are aggravated by stress etc so it's been really important to me to get it sorted. I don't blame my midwife at all as shes been good throughout, just seems like a lengthy and fiddly ordeal to go back and forth between all the consultants and appointments for something relatively straightforward. Fingers crossed 🤞

@Stupiddriver1 thank you, that's really helpful to know and put my mind at rest a bit 🙂
