Wife Intercourse Pain 8 Years After Birth

Hi mums

A rare dad (42) posting here (esp in this topic, not sure its best here or postnatal health? Feel free to move it mods) looking for some advice/help, hope that's OK. My wife recently disclosed to me that she is still experiencing pain during sex 8 years since our DD was born. We have been trying for a second for a number of years without luck but she has become even more reluctant to try recently and after some prodding she revealed that she feels she's getting too old (42) but more worryingly that she still has pain during intercourse.

I recall this persisting for a couple of years after the birth, she had a tear and lost a reasonable amount of blood during her natural birth and was stitched with the only advice being given from what I remember was to bath with tea tree oil however she hasn't mentioned discomfort in intervening years (but does correspond to a lessening of our sex life). She states that not just penetration hurts but also manual and even oral, anything that "rubs", she mentioned its also impeding her reaching orgasm if she tries herself.

I've asked her to visit the GP but she's stubborn and refused, can anyone tell me if there's anything we (or rather I) can do, anything over the counter that will help?

Thanks for listening, I hope that's not TMI but enough for someone to help

Oh God, the poor love. Frankly if she won’t see a doctor there’s nothing that will change really. I wonder about adhesions.

Don't think you can get anything over the counter unfortunately. She really needs to see a GP. You're obviously a very supportive husband and hopefully she'll listen to you and make an appointment soon.
