Induction - can you actually ask them to remove the pessary?

Basically in the title can they remove the pessary if you feel your unable to cope with it for much longer, never mind another 12 hours as having regular contractions?

I think it dissolves and is absorbed into the cervix. There would be nothing to take out by the time it has started working.

There's 2 types of pessary so if they use the one that doesn't dissolve it has a little string like a tampon and you can ask them to remove it at any time, tbh you just pull it out so could actually do it yourself if you really wanted x

Don’t forget, you have a right to request pain relief if you want it.

Is it the pessary causing discomfort or contractions. Not sure but with me, the pessary got me started but once I was having contractions pulling out the pessary didn't make a difference in the pain. Good luck. It's pretty horrific, but remember you will get through it, you will have your beautiful baby.

I had Propess which is the tampon like thing with string on the end. You can withdraw your consent for induction at any time. The pain was excruitating. I told the midwife I wanted it taken out and repeated my request several times. She told me she couldn’t take it out and walked off. I complained to the Trust that they continued with a medical procedure when I clearly had withdraw my consent. My complaint was upheld. At the time I didn’t know you could gently pull it out yourself otherwise I would have done but I was scared what the awful midwife would do or say to me.

I had an induction on my first and it was nothing like last night, she really was ready to make a fast entry, turned out the pain I couldn't cope with the baby couldn't cope with either, they did end up removing the pessary and I went straight to labour to have my waters broken where she arrive 3 hours later! Super fast nothing like my first, they are little buggers and refuse to listen especially having two midwives day and night shift, even day shift agreed it wasn't going to be in for the whole 24 hours but then the younger night shift midwife in my care said i wasn't getting my waters broken until the morning at 8pm I couldn't handle the pain then so I knew the morning was out the running and she showed that by her reaction!
Baby delivered at 3:59 weighing a lovely 9lb exact all cute and cuddly!

I know I couldn't believe it wasn't expecting it at all to be the way it was but it happened and I'm so glad I managed to go naturally without anymore intervention whilst labouring!!
