Hi all!

I'm a FTM, 41 weeks today and I'm booked in for an induction on the 9th of december. At my last appointment I was told my cervix is softening and was 2cm long. I will be going in again this friday for another check of my cervix so hopefully its progressed more.

I was told I would need to be there for 7am and they'll start off with the pessary. My question is, because my cervix is already soft do you think itll take my body long to progress into labour? Is being induced at a later stage more successful?

I know it can be a 24 hour process but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a successful induction at 41 weeks. What are some tips that got you through? I'll be bringing snacks, pillow from home and my ipad to watch some netflix but I'm just curious on what to expect. I know everyone's body is different.

its luck really my friend was as far as you no induction worked her baby boy point blank refused to come out.She had to have a c cection

I on the other hand had to have a induction early due to mine being a bit of a pudgy pudding.Yet although it was early i gave birth a few hours after the pessary.Everything was strait forward

Just relax try not to think about it and think more of the good to come.Your baby will be with you soon before christmas and you be home again soon after

I'm exactly the same boat, This is my second and my second induction tomorrow morning! I know I'm written for the propess which is a tampon like pessary sits behind your cervix, it can be uncomfortable but bearable I'd say unless you are a tampax fan haha!

It stays in for 24 hours i believe unless I'm assuming it's painful contractions,I'm not sure because I barely felt the contractions as painful on my first I sat with it for 24 hours the next day removed and they examined and left me to it waiting for a bed in labour ward, I went over around 10pm and he did arrive then 2.38pm the Wednesday, it all started from 4pm on the Monday!! I'm praying for it to not be as long tomorrow as I have a very favourable cervix, but expecting a little chunk monkey this time around who knows!
Lot less calmed at the moment first time I went in I was like a bag of jelly which set my BP sky highly but really was nerves and staying in a hospital for like the first time ever, that I could recall haha!

Who knows though right!!! I was also on the drip during labour to help everything move along, my cervix this time around though she said she could easily stretch to 4cm! So I'm sat wondering what will tomorrow bring was hoping after 3 sweeps this week she would naturally bring labour on itself but nope little miss stubborn is to comfy! I am just under from you to going in at 40 + 5 weeks, first I went in on 40 weeks born at 40+2!

I was meant to be induced then I was told by my cousin to drink pure pineapple juice... i didn’t have a juicer machismo I took a pineapple blender it the sieve it n drank it and my contractions kicked in. Baby was born the next day.

My 2 other cousins tried pineapple juice and worked out for them to.

Goodluck

I was induced as DS was a bit on the big side! I had the first pessary fitted which was in for 24 hours, then a 2nd one which was left in for another 8 hours. By the end of the 36 hours I'd started to get pretty bad back ache and didn't even click that the pains were my contractions which had started! I had my waters broken at 2pm and then DS was born at 8.12pm.
My tips would be to take something to keep you occupied as it can be a long and boring process. Magazines with crosswords and puzzles worked for me and of course Netflix. And keep moving if you can, I spent ages walking up and down the ward. My other suggestions would be some nice snacks for you and, if you plan on BF, some nipple balm. I highly recommend one by Moo Goo called Mudder Udder! Hope everything goes okay for you - congratulations in advance!
