C section on Friday 13th

So I have to book in for a c section last minute (long story) but basically at 39 weeks when they want to do it will be Friday 13th December. My consultant said something like "oh I guess you won't want that date!" and took a while to click but I guess it's meant to be spooky or unlucky. To me it's literally just a day... what would you do?! Just chill and go for that date or wait until a week later (they don't have any other slots till the 19th) or ask for the 12th?! I'm not superstitious and just tempted to be like the 13th is fine!

Just have it, I actually opted for this date as I figure with all the weird people it'll be fairly quiet of optional procedures which is good for me.

Also is 39 weeks is the 13th, then 19th is 39+6. If you can't have a vagina delivery, you're at greater risk of going into labour and needing an EMCS. Take the earlier date for sure.

Thanks @SleepingStandingUp that's exactly what I'm thinking!! You're right, it will be quieter that day x

Go for the 13th, it’s literally just a day!

SleepingStandingUp · 01/12/2019 23:45

Unless you're at my hospital, I'm delivering twins!!

fancytiles · 01/12/2019 23:53

@SleepingStandingUp oh how exciting! @JoGose yes I think the same :)

I'd bite their bloody hand off, Friday 13 or not

managedmis · 01/12/2019 23:55

Do folks actually take that seriously?

SleepingStandingUp · 01/12/2019 23:59

Managedmis I had a boss who booked every Fri 13th of for YEARS

fancytiles · 02/12/2019 00:01

@managedmis I don't know, I didn't, until brought up by the consultant, but honestly I just think it's another day!

I was offered this date but said no! Haha it wouldn't of been end of world but still so got 12/12 however tht was fetched forward to 9/12 and currently in triage waiting to see if will be today or tomorow!!!

CouldBeAGreatMum · 02/12/2019 14:20

@fancytiles my mother was given exactly this choice, and as such I was born on Friday 13th! I'm still alive to tell the tale! Smile

Blue5238 · 02/12/2019 14:25

I was born on Friday 13th. I seem to have survived the experience, as did my mum

rhowton · 02/12/2019 14:33

My big thing would be that it's a Friday. Massive staff shortages on the weekend and you may not be discharged! If you can, arrange for the Monday.

Lllot5 · 02/12/2019 14:36

I was born Friday 13 th go for it.

Celebelly · 02/12/2019 14:37

We're getting married on Friday 13th - no superstitions here! Enjoy meeting your baby Smile

FraterculaArctica · 02/12/2019 15:59

This was my due date this year but DS has made sure he gave it a very wide berth by arriving 6 weeks early!

AlwaysColdHands · 02/12/2019 16:00

My DD1 was born on Friday 13th! Didn’t bat an eyelid!
Best of luck Smile

Fabuleuse · 02/12/2019 21:44
