I'm looking for information on c sections, specifically how far in advance of your due date are they are performed? (In anyone has information on Sheffield that would brilliant)

I don't find out the date until I'm 34 weeks, but because I have so many holidays at work I have to use before I go, I'd probably be leaving around the 29 week mark. But because I don't know the date it's making it hard to judge.

Usually they’re done in week 39 of your pregnancy unless there’s a clinical reason for earlier. This reduces the risk of the baby having breathing difficulties.

They book it when you see consultant, they booked mine at 34 weeks as there is a right cue upto Xmas! They have just fetched forward and and closest they could do was 3 days! I believe it's caus run up to Xmas!

They booked mine in at 36 weeks for week 39. They prefer to wait till then unless any issues. Depending on how my 37 week scan went I would of had him at 38 weeks.
I'm going in Monday for mine!

My DH performs C sections! I’ve just asked him and He just said if it’s elective planned then it can be anywhere from a few days , to a week after your due date . It really depends on the baby’s and your health closer to the time apparently . Good luck xx

Leannej1986 that's great thank you. And I bet you can't wait for Monday to see your baby Grinso exciting.

Itsemily thank you so much Smile. I had a really bad tear last time so they don't want me to go into natural labour because my body couldn't stand it again so I think they'll do it before my due date.

Exciting but extremely nervous!
Just hope he holds out till Monday.
I think you will definitely want to leave work before week 39 if you can I found from week 37 everything very uncomfortable I was thankful I'd left work.

I had an ELCS at 37+4 due to baby being breech and complications in a previous pregnancy which they were concerned about returning. Usually it's around 39 weeks. At 36 weeks consultant told me it would be some time the following week. I had a phone call telling me the date two days beforehand!
