VBAC

Hi all

Just hoping to hear some vbac stories.

I have been offered an induction before due date apparently as safer for VBACS?! Everywhere I have read say to avoid induction at all costs where possible for VBACS but my hospital are keen for me to not go overdue because of my scar.

Stories of vbacs with or without induction greatly appreciated.

My firstbirth was 4day induction. Failed forceps and emergency section.

I had a vbac with my second and third non was induced first was ten days late second was 2 days late how long ago did you have your section if it wasn't long that could be why there suggesting induction maybe?

I had a Vbac with DD2 after being induced with DD1 and ending up with EMCS. Where I am they don’t induce if you’ve had a C-Sec as it puts you at higher risk of your scar rupturing. Also induction carries a higher risk of intervention. If I were you I would wait it out and let baby come when they’re ready. I had DD2 at 40+5 and it was a great experience.

@Mummylanie3 it was November 2017.

@Myusernameisunique I want to wait it out but they are adamant that I'm not safe to go past due date when all my research says I am.

They were originally trying to push me for an elective c section which I categorically so not want. They seemed shocked even that I didn't want to!

I tried a vbac but landed up being an emergency c section due to scar about to rupture.

My hospital did not like inducing vbacs due to the risk. I went naturally. I would have ruptured if they handed been monitoring me or if they had tried to induce me.

The surgeon said my scar inside was paper thin by the time she'd gotten to it. I was 38 weeks.

Your allowed a second opinion if you want one.

It’s utter bullshit that you need to give birth before your due date (I work on labour ward). Induction does increase your risk of scar rupture also.
I had a VBAC after prev CS at 9cm. Was induced at 39+4 due to acute polyhydramnios and likely late onset diabetes. Had been planning an induction at 40+4. Had a normal birth, although did have a 3rd degree tear and lost over 2litres of blood. But I don’t regret my decision I be but.

I would ask for a second opinion if I was you

Ginmonkey84 · 27/11/2019 10:02

What absolute nonsense! You are absolutely right the risk of rupture is almost doubled with induction. It is rarely something that is considered in our local trust area due to the risk and is clearly viewable on the current NHS guidelines. Unless you have a clinical reason you should only be discussing other options at 41 weeks. It is absolute madness they are trying to force this on you. It’s always your decision and your making the right one. You have a better chance of VBAC going into labour yourself. The mind boggles.
