Still bleeding 7 weeks after birth

Sorry if this is in the wrong topic.
I just wanted to know if this is normal as I was told to expect some bleeding for 4-6 weeks.

Gave birth 7 weeks ago. I gave birth vaginally and had an episiotomy. I had some heavier bleeding for the first week which then fizzled out and was just spotting after that. I then got my period at about week 5 and that lasted around 5 days and I thought the bleeding would completely stop but about 2 days later the spotting started again and has remained since.. I'm now into week 7 and I'm still spotting.. I'm having to wear pads still but there's not loads on there.. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Just feel as though it's strange considering I've had a period inbetween this time..

Sounds very similar to my experience. I remember thinking "it's been six weeks now ENOUGH" but I think it stopped around 8/9 weeks for me.

For me it was normal. I didn't have a period or an episiotomy so not the same situation but did continue to have some bleeding past 6 weeks. I was told it was likely because I was trying to do too much and not resting enough (true!). But if you do have any concerns it would be worth getting it checked out.

I bled for 8 weeks with both mine - no period as far as I know!

I did go to the GP the first time, who wasn't concerned but sent me for a scan just in case. I didn't bother the second time. I didn't have any signs of infection, so let it run it's course.

I had this with DD2. It was retained products from her undeveloped twin (who didn't grow beyond 6 weeks)

The doctor referred me for an ultrasound and I got given some tablets to take. Passed the mass within 24hrs and stopped bleeding shortly after that.

Ah thank you ladies! Sounds like it's quite normal then. I'll probably go the doctors if it continues past 9 weeks or so.. even google was saying 4-6 weeks of bleeding so I was starting to think this is not common..

I'd go to doctor and get checked out. I'm always up to 6 weeks but third time I was still bleeding week 7, had retained products in my scan. I think anything past 6 weeks is worth checking.
