Does the numbness from C-Sec ever go away?

Had an EMCS end June this year and was wondering if this numbess / weird sensation ever leaves? For me it reach as high as my belly button and goes to my cut and reach pretty far to either side of my belly. Also the cut itself, its so sensitive still if it is touched or pulled or leaned on, I am just hoping it might all return to normal at some point? It really freaks me out and does impact on our sex life as it makes me go right off anything if my DH touches anywhere in that area.

Two years later, and the numbness has just gone. Having another CS next week! Shock

Helbelle17 · 01/11/2019 16:06

It does. 2.5 years on and feels normal now.
I'll be having another in May next year though! Hope I recover as well second time round.

What is it like, being pregnant with the cut btw?
I am pregnant now (although with a threatened MC so might be ending anyway but we shall try again, sorry to go off track a bit) and just wondered if it is also normal to feel so much cramping in the cut during pregnancy or if that is the sign of the MC?

My numbness never went - it isnt as widespread as yours though. Fingers crossed for you!

HavelockVetinari · 01/11/2019 16:14

Took a couple of years for me.

Ive had 2 c sections my last one was 3 years ago and I'm still numb unfortunately so I can't say if it ever goes but I have always wondered this myself. As for the scar during my pregnancy there were no issues my DD had been born 9 months before getting pregnant again.
The cut with my second was much neater than the first x

After my c section, I was warned not to get pregnant for two years afterwards - so if you had an emergency c section in June it might well be that the scar hasn’t settled down yet. I would definitely talk to doctor - do hope it settles down soon.

4.5 years post 2nd c section and still no feeling in the central part of my belly (3 inches wide from belly button to scar) but I had 2 sections in under 2 years so perhaps more damage done

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 01/11/2019 16:18

15 years since my 1st section and 9 years since my last and it has never gone away in places, I'm used to it now.

Alicenwonderland · 01/11/2019 16:22

Mine is still numb around the scar after 5 years. It was my only c-section, a friend said hers is now numb all over the bottom half of her stomach after section number three.

TipseyTorvey · 01/11/2019 16:31

4 years and mostly okay now. Took about 2 and a half years though.

TwittleBee · 01/11/2019 18:15

That's the usual stuff MW are told to say because there is a slight increased risk of tearing the cut if you have a VBAC prior 2 years @Bitofeverything . I spoke to my Dr about TTC again in July, post death of son born in June, and she said to go for it but I would be advised on another CS.

Thank you for all your responses, so it seems like its something I better get used to. Hoping I can face it being touched soon.

11 months on mine is mostly back to normal except for the actual scar

PlumkinPie · 02/11/2019 18:24

Mine is 11 years old and is still numb

MotherWol · 02/11/2019 21:14

Mine’s 3.5 years old, no numbness but it does get really itchy quite often.
