Anyone else happy to be overdue?

Over 40 weeks and still feel quite comfortable. Don't feel any rush for baby to be here and quite happy to wait until 42 weeks!

I feel like everyone else is desperate for sweeps and inductions and I don't get it. Maybe I don't think I'll ever be ready for labour which is worrying. Am I the only one?

I was totally happy plodding along being overdue. I felt fit as a fiddle, walked on the beach every day, cleared weeds from the patio, felt beautiful. Loved it. As I came up to 41 weeks I had to start thinking about getting the baby out naturally as I wanted a homebirth so I asked my midwife for a sweep and had my baby at home later that day. 41+3 best day of my life.

Enjoy being overdue and cute! We are the minority.

I didn't mind being overdue, it did just start worrying me when I got booked in for an induction. Luckily a 4.5 mile walk, Mexican food, acupuncture, many whole pineapple smoothies and a few sweeps eventually got him moving!

I feel lucky! I can imagine it gets hard when they start talking about induction though. I wonder how long I can hold off as baby clearly isn't ready.

At the time I was desperate to meet my baby. He was born at 40+12 and in hindsight I’m so glad because he was a lovely size, so healthy and clearly had just been cooking to perfection in there 🤣

PS I had an induction but just the pessary. It worked really quickly and I had a lovely 3 hour labour ending in a water birth so not all inductions are awful.

Oh you're one of the lucky ones! I'm 39+0 today, had the best pregnancy and I'm still very much annoyed that she's tucked comfortably in there!

(I also have an horrendous ear infection which means no ibuprofen, which could be adding to my frustrations!) ouch!

Depends on your age. I don’t want to be overdue because I am reallynclose to the age at which the risk of stillbirth / placental failure increases for every day past 40 weeks. So I have requested a sweep at 39 weeks and if that doesn’t work an induction.

41+1 today... I’d be happier to be overdue if England weren’t playing in the Rugby World Cup Final tomorrow!

Also the sooner the baby comes, the sooner I can get back to eating whatever I want and not making myself bleed 4 times a day (GD).

Had a sweep yesterday, mucus plug came out last night but other than that, still no sign of baby showing up any time soon...

I was massive and uncomfortable and just didn’t want to be pregnant any more. I was also worried about the risks of stillbirth etc if I went too far overdue. When he came out at 41+1 he was well overcooked, wrinkly and flaky and all his skin peeled off in the first few days.

I felt like this with baby number one (who came naturally at 40+6). Wasn’t in too much of a rush with baby number 2 (who came at 40+2). Baby number 3 however... I had awful SPD. I’d been in slow, latent labour for 3 weeks, over the whole of the Christmas period (with my two older DC off school), I couldn’t sleep more than an hour a night due to painful contractions that went absolutely nowhere. I was finally induced at 41+6 and he came at 42 weeks. It was hell.
So enjoy the feeling Grin

I'd be happy to go overdue this time purely down to my due date being 22 Dec lol! I'd like my DS1 to be able to enjoy Xmas before the chaos begins. I was overdue last time and ended up being induced and he arrived at 41+1 but you just don't know what's gonna happen do you, he'll come when he's ready I'm sure! 😳😊
