Hi
I'm also having 3.rd section but in 4 weeks! Out of curiosity how old are you other kids and were the other sections planned?
Mine were both emergency this one will be elective , and 16/11 years ago for me!!
I had a bad time each time however recovered a lot quicker second time

I've had 4 and the recovery was easier on each one so hopefully it will be the same for you. Take every painkiller offered to keep pain at bay. Walk around the ward often once you are up and about to prevent getting too stiff. I had stitches with a bead on the end with third and I had a drain in. Both were a pain as had to be removed a couple of days later. With 4th I had no drain and dissolvable stitches - guess it depends on the surgeon.

@Drum2018 why did you have the drain? Also just been nosey but how long between the sections? I'm due my 3rd section but first elective is a matter of weeks and know already that I want another baby in the year after my section c

I have had three- one emcs and two planned. Recovery was fine for both planned. The emcs was the worst presumably because o had been in labour for three days and my blood pressure had gone nuts.

Number 2 was fine but I felt so good i over did it on day two ( was home within 24 hours) that I pushed my blood pressure up and was a bit sore (nothing awful just had to go back onto the harder painkillers again for a day or so).

So 3rd section I made sure to take it easy and though I was home after 24 hours pretended like I was in hospital and didnt move about much for the first couple of days, just from bed to bathroom and stuff. And recovery was a breeze. Easiest recovery of all of them.

I think being mobile as soon as you can is great but for the first few days just gentle movement and no lifting etc even if you feel amazing. Oh and this time round I had lactctulose. And it was awesome. No constipation or terrifying first poos.

Good luck- but honestly it will likely be just fine.

I’ve only had one c-section but DSIL has had four...like a poster above she has found each recovery easier (possibly because she knew exactly what to expect...) but there was never an alternative option and it was all fine!

@ameliathomas84 Ive got a 5 year old and a 2 year old! I originally wanted a vaginal birth this time as the thought of recovery with running around after these two and my school runs add to around 4 and a half miles daily but I wasn't allowed so I had to sway towards having another section. It sounds like most of you have had positive experiences. I just cant help but think the worst and get worked up about it as it getting closer!

I know someone who’s has 6 c-sections.. they did keep saying after each one, don’t get pregnant anymore but she kept doing it lol oh and she’s about 6stone wet thru

Drum2018 · 01/11/2019 10:19

@ameliathomas84 21 months between first 2 and 30 months between second and third. I had a few years gap then before 4th. Ask your surgeon when they are performing the section how things look inside and afterwards when you have your check up you can ask their opinion on the safety of another section so soon.

Not sure why I had a drain. I thought I'd have to have it on 4th too but had a different consultant so he didn't put one in. I was thrilled!

ameliathomas84 · 01/11/2019 10:22

@Drum2018 yep was going to ask surgeon if I'm good for another! I know they suggest at least waiting a year to try again after. A section but I am keen due to age/mat leave to do it after 6 max x

Can't offer any advice as such but I'm also due my third section on the 11th Nov! I'm getting nervous now, still not sure it's sunk in that I'm having a baby!
Hope everything goes well for you op!
