baby is "fixed" - what does this mean?!

Hi - quick question for a first timer!

My midwife this morning said that she couldn't move the baby about and has written on my notes that baby is "fixed". What does this mean? Is it the same as being engaged? Does it mean that the baby is on it's way eek?!

Thanks for your help.

probably means that the head is engaged but don't panic this could happen weeks before baby puts in an appearance- especially for first timers

Yes, head is no longer bobbing about freely but is 'fixed' in the head down position, ready to start its descent. My dd was 'fixed' from 31 weeks and born at 39 weeks.

I'm only 31 weeks so good to know it could still be a few weeks - I'm really not ready yet!

Thanks x
