Paternity advise???

Just wondering if anyone could advise. My partner hasn't worked for his employer long enough to qualify for paternity pay so will need to use up his holiday but also has not accumulated much. I am having a C section in 3 weeks and he will need to help me with moving etc and caring for the baby. Does anyone know if there is any way the doctors would/could sign him off work where he would then still get Statutory Sick Pay??

Sciatica is always a winner for getting signed off work

No, because he’s not sick. Could he take unpaid leave?

@Pinkblueberry not even if he would be classed as a Carer?

Statutory sick pay is what it says on the tin, it’s not for caring. Many companies don’t even offer employees paid leave for looking after a poorly child. I think unless like a PP suggested he goes and makes something up (but if they know you’re due I doubt this will go down well) he’s not going to get any paid leave for this. By no means fair, I know.

I had the same issue but mine was ECS my husband was allowed to take carers leave. Does yours have this at all?
