Gestational diabetes

I've recently been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. I'm on insulin four times a day and checking my levels 7 times daily. This is my first baby and I'm just curios to hear of other woman's birth experiences with gestational diabetes. I have been told I have a higher chance of waters breaking early and am also being considered for an induction at 38 weeks I'm currently 30 weeks

I'm in the same position as you and I'm also 30 weeks. I'm not on insulin yet but have felt quite poorly this pregnancy. I'll be interested to see what people say.

Hello! First pregnancy I am 35 weeks. Diagnosed at 28weeks but my levels are only just over so 5.5 instead of 5 for resting for example.

I have been regulating through diet and then they put me on met form in. Levels remain consistently exactly the same and baby isn't measuring big. I don't appreciate the scaremongering about stillbirth etc.

I was told my baby would be too big to get out and lots of other scaremongering things I won't scare you with... they all turned out to be false. (Not false per se but they said it would def happen and it didn't ) Keep on top of it as best you can but the reason they give you extra care is so that these things don't happen. You will be fine. Hi, I have had gestational diabetes in 3 of my 4 pregnancies. First pregnancy was diet controlled, ( refused metformin)and went into spontaneous labour at 36+2 weeks. 3rd pregnancy late diagnosis and induced at 39+4 but due to poor growth and failing placenta. Despite monitoring and fortnightly scans nothing was picked up. 4 th pregnancy diagnosed at 28 weeks and diet controlled with insulin for fasting readings. Induced at 38+2 due to slow growth and was on 16 units of insulin. I suffered iugr in all pregnancies though. Induction was pressed upon me from 28 weeks at diagnosis however I refused in my first as it was controlled, and with my fourth I refused as it was controlled, I only agree to induction due to the fact he was tiny, and my previous experience. If you haven't, have a read of the nice guidelines regarding induction, GD, risks etc it may help you make an informed decision that is right for you.
