This may actually be it this time!
I've been having cramps since 7am! Got more intense since and now 4 mins apart.
Tried to rest - no luck, what with 4 minutely contractions, next door drilling and banging and kids arriving home - ringing doorbell - no peace at all.
Have just packed kids off to parents.
Hope this is really it - can't face another false alarm.

Trinaj · 13/08/2007 18:38

Nothing gory just yet .
Thought I'd try again to get a rest in, just as nextdoor's teenager decided to turn on his music .
Still about 4 mins but getting stronger.

ooo sounds like its the one trinaj. well done hope you get on ok. id have screamed at neighbours by now ha

Trinaj · 14/08/2007 00:34

Anyone on?
My contractions dropped off about 9 ish - I got all emotional and upset.
Dh sent me off for a bath. Felt much better after .
Went for a rest got about 2 hours - on and off - then contractions came back with avengance - dropped right down to 2 mins. So thought I'd call labour ward - wish I hadn't told me they weren't strong enough yet and there's not much chance of me having a water birth as they don't have enough staff!!!!!!!!!!!!
So now I'm in pain - want relief but can't get it and miserable!

Aww, big hug - and here's a little tip that might work a bit. When you breathe out, sing - just 'aaaah' or 'laaah'. And you can have a paracetamol, I'm fairly sure (if the labour ward didn't tell you that, ring them back and ask). Oh, and the singing might also make you feel better if it disturbs the teenage neighbour who disturbed you earlier

Good luck. You'll have a lovely bouncing LO soon.

j20baby · 14/08/2007 00:40

aww poor you! can you have a warm bath?

Trinaj · 14/08/2007 00:42

thought about a bath - but I only just got dressed again!!
Shall sit it out a little longer I guess.

How on earth do the labour ward know how that your conttractions "aren't strong enough yet" ???? Are you not screaming or gurning enough ?

Hope you're hanging on in there. Did they give you any idea of when they thought you should go in ?

Fingers crossed for an announcement in the morning !

Trinaj · 14/08/2007 00:44

They said half hour or hour - cee how it goes!

j20baby · 14/08/2007 00:44

are you having a home birth?

every 2 minutes are quite often aren't they?
(sorry but i was induced last time and can't really remember anything about how often contractions come)

Trinaj · 14/08/2007 00:51

No hospital.
I was always under the impression that 2 mins was close - but apperently they're not LONG enough!
Cos they know how I feel and can tell me I don't need anything!!

OP posts:
sohappyicouldcry · 14/08/2007 00:52

Our protocol is that if contractions are 2 mins apart then we are to transport to hospital. If membranes have gone and their is crowning or urge to push, we stay where we are, prepare for delivery and get midwife to come out (hoping she gets there before the messy bit !)

Have your membranes ruptured ? Have you the urge to push ? If so then, you realy could do with going in....... unless you want to be naming the baby "Ford Focus" or "Ambulance" !!

Good luck. Off to bed myself (wide awake as was on night shift last night) but will check on tomorrow for the announcement,

Hope all goes well x

j20baby · 14/08/2007 00:55

have you got a tens machine or anything to help?

ring them and tell them that they are stronger/quicker/more intense, the sooner you get in the more likely you will be able to have a water birth wont it? you can nag them, there may be a mw who takes pity on you.

good luck x

LelsandZaffy · 14/08/2007 00:58

Trinaj you still there???

madamez · 14/08/2007 01:01

Have you anyone with you Trina? Is your DP/DH/baby's father (no disrespect meant, I don't know your circs and you haven't mentioned a partner being there) in the house? Sleeping? If you are alone then call them back and exaggerate your pain or something to get them to admit you, you should not be on your own.

Trinaj · 14/08/2007 01:09

Dh gone back to bed.
Contractions have slowed again!! - stress?
Didn't get tens machine this time.
They said if i leave it a while they may have more staff available to cope with water birth.
Watching Pretty Woman and resting now.

OP posts:
madamez · 14/08/2007 01:11

Rest, hon. Rest as much as possible while you can... it won't be long now

LelsandZaffy · 14/08/2007 01:13

Watching Pretty Woman too.

My contractions did the same with dd2, these kiddly winks turn up when they want, no clock watching for them

Trinaj · 14/08/2007 02:40

I finally fell asleep, managed to get about half hours kip - on and off - then my waters broke!!!!
-OMG that woke me up fast!
Now of course pain is surging - going to have to go in soon, water birth or not!
Is it still safe to bath at home?
