Are sore boobs a sign?

Are sore boobs a sign something might be starting? I'm only 37 weeks but they have been swollen and a bit warm to the touch for the last couple of days - and feel a bit achey like before a period. Or is this something to do with milk production. They are quite hot - can you get mastitis before you even start bf?

Hmm, just wondering, know I shouldn't be looking for signs already!

I've never experienced this symptom pre-labour, but you can produce milk before the birth (I believe) so it could just be your milk coming in. Are they hot all over or just in one place? Is this your first??? (how exciting!)

No second, don't remember this last time - that's why I was wondering if you could get mastitis or anything beforehand. They are warm all over but mostly around the nipples. I noticed my bra was really tight this morning. They are not really sore, just tender and achey. I havent got any discharge of colustrum yet which I do seem to remember having before the birth last time so maybe it is that? Interesting.

Probably is.... if it was mastitis, (if it's possible to get beforehand) it would be concentrated in one place, just sounds as though your milk is starting to come in, maybe baby will be early....have you packed your bag!!!!! Good luck!!!!

Don't mean to hijack at all but am wondering if my baby is coming soon as well. Am 37+5, feeling very disorganised and worried that he/she is on the way. Had first painful BH during the night and have lots of sharp pains in pubic area, and baby is pretty low. Occasional period-type cramps. Also have crazy nesting instinct but maybe just because I feel so disorganised (only just finished work, feel overwhelmed by the amount of things to prepare/clean around the house). Boobs doubled in size over last two days, but no sign of any leaking. I'm a first-timer as you can probably guess.

ooooh sounds similar to me - whatever is going on it is happenning to both of us! I suspect though this is the beginning of the process over the next few weeks - I rememebr feeling panicked about not being ready at this point last time. Get all your preparations done, bags packed etc and you will feel better.

naturelover, you're probably more organised than you think you are!!! Make lists and I'm sure it'll all sort itself out!!! Good luck you two!
