38 weeks, dilated 1cm

I'm 38 weeks today, I had a scan this afternoon to monitor DD's growth as they've been concerned she might be big, she's estimated to be 7lb 11oz which is only just above where they think she should be. I'm booked in for an induction on my due date as they're concerned she may be a little big if I go over, but they're not worried at this stage.

I had an internal examination and was found to be 1cm dilated. I've also had a sweep.

Does anyone have any experience of being dilated at 38 weeks? How did things progress? Trying to manage my expectations but I'm really hoping this means things will get going soon

Not the same experience but I was induced at 38 weeks. I went from 3cm-10cm in a hour being on my knees 😳. Hope things progress fairly quickly for you x

Wow @BusyDoingNothingx Shock I don't have any experience (this is my first time) but I gather that's quite fast!? Do you feel it was a positive experience, if you don't mind me asking?

I just want to meet DD soon, although tomorrow is DH's birthday and I'd like her to have her own special day that's just hers, obviously it's not up to me though!

@ItProtectsMyHead yeah I was very lucky to dilate that quick so I could get on with pushing 😂. Was my first too 🥰. If it helps you I was on my knees but too half of my body hanging over the top of the bed, you could try this position see if it helps?
In all honesty I didn't have a bad experience with my DS. Had a round of pessary x3 but all failed to dilate my cervix and although I had pains on and off cervix wasn't opening. Went for a 2nd round of pessary's 24hrs after as had to have a break in between. 1st pessary is 2nd round actually opened my cervix to 1cm so popped in the 2nd pessary 6 hours later I was 3cm and could have waters broken. When your waters break it's such a nice feeling, feels like you wet yourself and you're going for a big wee 🙈. My contractions got more intense once my waters broke (I had a lot of waters) but managed on gas and air I liked the gas and air a bit too much 😂😂😂. Hope your experience is a lovely one! X

P.s totally get you wanting your DD to have her own special day! My DS was born 4 days after my partners birthday and 1 day before my mums birthday 😂

Maybe it's because I'm a Christmas baby, obviously the most important thing is that she's ok but I didn't want them sharing Smile she was very helpful and didn't arrive yesterday, although I lost the mucus plug this morning so hoping things are progressing now
