Help - bloody show? Mucus plug? *TMI PIC*

Sorry for the awful pic - please don't look if squeamish! But is this normal bloody show or mucus plug? It was very red - dark red clot but not brown like old blood.

Happened after an internal examination to check cervix at 37 weeks (to determine if induction next week is likely to be successful). Examination wasn't painful, it was uncomfortable. She said cervix was slightly open and could feel babies head.

Midwife who did examination said i may have a little blood after but shouldn't have a lot, if I do then call in - well I filled a pad with bright red blood then passed this. It's stopped now. Rang day assessment unit and they said not to worry but ring back if any more. Feeling abit worried and confused now.

Mine was a lot clearer (with a bit of pink and a few streaks of blood) and jelly like than that...that looks more like a clot to me?

I could be completely wrong mind! Maybe give them a ring to check? :-)

Oh sorry I just saw that you have rang! 🤦🏻‍♀️ Apologies.

I'd try not to worry if they said it's okay and it's stopped :-) I know that's impossible as I was a worrier from beginning to baby being born!

Thank you for responding @doofusdogandthecuriouscat I thought it would be clearer and more jellylike too - this was more like a bigger than usual clot you might pass on a heavy period. Iv nit had anymore bleeding since so going to be and sleep tonight and see how I feel in the morning,

I had an obvious plug come out, and there was definitely a lot more stuff that looked like mucus. It was like a thick sheet, with blood streaks. That looks more like a clot, but if your womb is open and they’ve prodded, they’ve probably just dislodged a bit of the lining. Hope all goes well; keep in touch with them if you’re worried but I think there’s a logical explanation.
