Membrane sweep

I will be 40+2 tomorrow with baby number 3.
Never been this pregnant before! Both of my last 2 DCs were early, so I’m feeling the pain this time around!
I’m reluctantly accepting a membrane sweep at my routine appointment tomorrow, but really not looking forward to it Confused
How long does it roughly take? Is it just a quick “in and swish” or does it take a little while? How painful is it really?
After a hideous experience giving birth to DC1 involving forced internal examinations carried out while I was screaming at the midwife to stop, I have never let anyone else carry out any form of internal examination, so I am extremely nervous about tomorrow Sad

I had one today so this is fresh in my mind! I declined at my 40 week appointment but accepted today at 40+6.

It was very quick! I was expecting it to be uncomfortable rather than painful (had been told it was like having a smear) but it was actually quite sore! (I say that as someone who has given birth twice with only a TENS machine for pain relief!). It was a bit "swishy"!

Sorry to hear about your precious experience with internals. You could ask the midwife to go through exactly what she's going to do first? I think I was more a bit surprised by the roughness of it that I wasn't expecting (I don't mean the midwife was too rough, more that it necessarily had to be quite firm to achieve the desired effect).

Good luck!
