Skin to skin vs swaddling?

What's your opinion?
I know it seems to be a 'fashionable' idea to swaddle a new born baby - as that's the sensation they've been used to. But I always understood that skin to skin was best for breastfeeding and bonding.
I personally prefer skin to skin - what do you think?

yes, just make sure he doesn't get too hot
eg use a light cotton sheet or a muslin with nothing underneath but a nappy
swaddling is just for when you're not cuddling them...

Different circumstances mean both are good at dif times - lots of skin to skin when you can, feeding, bath etc but swaddling was a life saver for sleep when DS was small. And that was in the heat wave last summer. When he was small enough we swaddled him in a muslin and then when a bit bigger we tore up a thin cotton sheet in to triangles so it involved as little material as possible.

skin to skin is fab - after the birth, when feeding (if weather and cirsumstances allow), basically anytime you can.

swaddle when baby is 'put to bed' is great aswell.

I think it's down to personal preference.
I prefer swaddling. Much more comfortable to me and easier to put the baby down to sleep if they nod off feeding.

I have recently discovered a book called baby-gami which I think is great for those who wish to swaddle.
It is by Andrea Sarvady (not me and I dont have shares in chronincle books).
Has lots of pictures for those amongst us with 2 thumbs

Skin to skin as both of mine hated being swaddled. For some reason they want to be free.
