He's not having any of it, he has been fine having sex up until now but at 39+6 he has said he is just not comfortable with it

My favourite midwife goes away on holiday in a few days and I want this baby out NOW

What can I say to convince him? Come on help me out

Well, don't know if you want to hear it but an 'oral application' of semen is just as good as full sex...so offer a blow job!

(Plus you can always jump him while he is 'distracted' )

beansprout · 09/08/2007 20:22

Tell him it is going to be his last chance for at least 6 months?

kevinsmother · 09/08/2007 20:23

Start crying? Usually helps to get your own way

hotcrumpets · 09/08/2007 20:25

Is the oral thing true then? If so that really suits me better anyway, I can hardly walk let alone anything else

Tried the crying thing, he just said ah don't worry it wont be long now

I will inform him of the impending sex ban

you know, a DIY orgasm can help

or just have an early night good nights sleep won;t hurt

choolie · 09/08/2007 21:28

apparently the stomach processes the semen more effectively to ripen things along - believe me i researched this on the internet and couldn't believe it, it's definitely a mans world! (i delivered at term +11 - hubby was a happy man, "helping" me to try and speed things up this way!)

Chirpygirl · 10/08/2007 09:05

'Sex, but especially oral sex - the 'natural' (and gentle) prostaglandins in semen are absorbed more effectively through the gut than through the cervix... if you can face it! (more on this below!)'

I didn't imagine it!

Hope you managed to come to an 'arrangement' last night....my DH is the same as ladyoftheflowers...it's a PITA cos I am so knackered I just want to sleep!

Trinaj · 10/08/2007 09:26

'Tis completely true about oral prostaglandins (?sp) - found this out the other day and dh has been trying to persuade me into it ever since .
Not a chance - I don't think I'll ever be THAT desperate!

Klaw · 10/08/2007 13:16

Never managed to persuade dp to help me out.... ;-(

Anyhow, try not to stress too much about getting labour going, you don't want to have to many niggly contractions that tail off again cos baby's not ready yet. And then mw will have gone and you're still waiting.... Relax and chill and baby will more likely then decide to arrive.

Keep well rested, watered and fed with plenty of walking and activity to encourage baby down!

Stay strong
