Contractions - feeling it more in my bum?

I'm 39+4 and it feels like contractions have started...

I'm getting a tightening across my bump, but then the pain feels like it's in my bum! Is that even a thing?!

With DS I felt it mostly in my back so I guess it could be?

I felt all my contractions in my thighs! Not one in my abdomen. So I’m sure you must be able to get them in your bum, sending you lots best wishes.

Your contractions are making your baby push down or your cervix and everything is very squashed together down there so you will feel some contractions in your bum.

Sounds like you might be dilating more quickly, the opening of the cervix can feel like that. If your labour is progressing quickly you might be feeling the baby bear down too. Did you have an epidural last time? When I pushed mine out (no pain relief) I felt it very much in my ‘bum area’!!

Thanks, all!

No epidural last time as I had a (planned) home birth. And it was very quick so I wouldn't have had time if I'd been in hospital I don't think!

DC are in bed so now would be a good time for it, to be honest!

Ooooh good luck! Sounds like it might all be happening 🤞🤞

I just gave birth on Sunday and all my contractions were in my bum! They would start at the bum and my abdomen would then contract. I've never felt anything like it! I had an epidural.
