So I was woken up at 1 this morning with contractions started timing them only ever 15 mins but 1 min in length and strong enough for me to use my tens machine and have to breathe through them..

Really thought this was it go time as this is how it started with my other 2 DC. I fell asleep about 5.45 with tens machine on woke an hour later and have had no contractions since! Are all 3rd labours like this? I'm gutted OH has taken the day off work as we thought we'd be heading to the hospital at some point today Hmm

What can I do to try and kick start these contractions again? Or do I just sit and wait and hope they return soon...?

Have you got an exercise ball you could bounce on? Or go for a walk?
My midwife told me staying active is the best thing.

Thanks for replying. Yes I have a ball I've been on and off it all day now with just the odd contraction here and there. X

Did your contractions start again?

Every labour is different - my MIL had nine children and said they were all very different, the ninth one being the worst of all. So nobody can tell you what is going to happen, but at 40+2 , something will happen soon. Go for some long walks , eat some pineapple and have sex ( not necessarily in that order !) , and good luck.

I'd phone your midwife or birthing centre for advice. At 42 weeks I'd probably be wanting baby to be monitored. What is your birthing plan? I'm suprised hosp have not induced you yet
