Have you had a private c section in last 3 years?

Hi There Smile

I live up north and I'm absolutely desperate for a private c-section. I know you can elect on the NHS but i can't risk being denied it last minute - which is a genuine reality these days due to costs etc. I have been advised to not bank on it.

Having researched, it seems there are only private hospitals offering this in London and so I'm prepared to move there a few weeks early / afterwards to have this. (This seems to strengthen my need to have one for the more judgier people I know who are against it!)

Has anyone had a Private one recently please? Not elected via NHS. I'd really appreciate any info on the hospital you chose and your experience as I'm trying to choose the best one.

Thanks very much!

You will have to go down south, there isn't any available up north, I looked.

I considered doing what you are proposing but discounted it for several reasons. Namely:

  • cost of renting a holiday home for 4-6 weeks on top of the £12k hospital bill
  • the idea of bleeding/ recovering in a place that's not my home.
  • family having to visit for longer periods due to distance
  • the car journey home taking forever due to having to stop every 30 minutes (or having to stay longer so we could do the 2 hour stints, but still a long journey for stops for feeding, nappies and pad changes).

In the end I elected in the NHS, remained firm in my insistence (after going in to labour early) and got one. I'm glad I did.
