Successful sweep?

Hi all, the other day I went for a stretch and sweep at 39+4, I was 1cm dilated but she stretched me to a 3. Since the sweep I've lost my mucus plug and I had mild aches but they left. I'm now 1 day before my due date and I have another sweep today.
Just wondering how long did it take people to go into labour? I'm obviously going to go past my due date I believe but I just really don't want to be induced. Any help?! 🤞🏽😬

Oh! And I've also not had any contractions yet but a lot of Braxton hicks. This is my first baby so I'm not sure what to expect apart from pain 🤷🏼‍♀️

Book another one for Friday when you see the mw later today. I found having 3 sweeps 48hrs apart got things going. Only very slight progress each time ( bishops score went from 6 to 7 to 8) but I think the constant “irritation” of the cervix got the hormones going. Fingers crossed for you.

@Youhavewonaprize thanks for the advice 😊 she said I probably wouldn't need this one today but i definitely think more is better. I'll keep you updated

There is certainly no harm in having them if you can tolerate the discomfort! Hope it goes well later

Ime we'll never know if sweeps really make a difference or not. How would you know if you wouldn't have gone into labour anyway.

Incidentally for me -

Dc1 - didn't have a sweep and went into spontaneous labour at 10 days overdue

Dc2 - had 3 sweeps 48 hours apart and was 15 days overdue before being induced

Dc3 - had 2 sweeps 48 hours apart and was 13 days overdue before being induced. Sweep 2 landed me in hospital with severe bleeding at 7 days late so I didn't have another.

The only thing I did differently with dc1 vs 2 and 3 was movement. With dc1 I was walking and moving as much as possible. With 2 and 3 I was on crutches with severe pgp and sciatica (had it with dc1 too but not as bad). Everyone said to me to walk as much as possible (especially after I had the sweeps) - I did with dc1 but not with the others.
