Active baby before labour? 40+4

Hi all, not sure where's best to ask!

I'm 40+4 today , been awake since 3am! Baby has been extremely active for the past couple of hours, I feel like I've felt him more tonight than the rest of the pregnancy! He's never been overly active.

I called outpatients just to check this isn't an issue and was reassured. But just wondering, has anyone experienced an active baby right before labour began?

My last baby was born at this gestation so I've got everything Crossed it's not going to be much longer!

Any significant change in movement should be investigated. I would phone your maternity triage again and insist upon being monitored.

Hi hope you don’t mind me asking but was this a sign for you?

PhoebeBear · 01/08/2019 01:26

@Star801 I'm curious too.. currently 39 weeks and baby is very very active tonight like I feel he's going to rip out my stomach any time soon 😂
I'm hoping it could be a sign of pending labour

Sorry but unfortunately not ! I'm now 10 days over due and no signs of baby coming any time soon 😭 my 3rd baby and the first one who's going to cause me problems by the looks of it lol

Oh sorry to hear that. Don’t think it’s a sign for me either but I’m not overdue yet.
I went 11 days over last time I remember it dragging in. Are you being induced?

PhoebeBear · 01/08/2019 10:36

Oh no bless you! I have a funny feeling I'm going to go over too 😔 it's my first but I don't have any signs or anything yet. Just wish I could know to put my mind at rest haha

ReginaPhalange89 · 01/08/2019 12:37

@Star801 I'm being induced Saturday if he doesn't make an appearance ! Don't think he's planning on it 🙈 3rd baby and never been induced before, just assumed it'd be easy like the last 2!

You never know @PhoebeBear , I went into labour 3 days early with my 1st, no signs ! I stood up off the sofa and my waters went whoosh!

Ooo good luck. Think I’ll have a few weeks left yet but can’t help looking for signs.
I was booked for induction last time so DH and I planned a little date day for the day before but I ended up in labour. Never had our date!

Star801 · 03/08/2019 22:40

How did it go OP?

ReginaPhalange89 · 04/08/2019 04:18

@Star801 still no baby just yet but it's going ok!

Came in yesterday morning and had one round of the prosten gel which started off pains ! I was 4cm when they next checked me and decided I didn't need any more . However they've just kind of left me now ! That was about 4pm yesterday and I've just waited around since then, waiting on a bed in labour ward to have my waters broken but it's backlogged apparently 🙈

Hoping it'll go quickly once my waters go 🤞 so it's going well so far apart from having to wait ! I reckon if they'd broken my waters when they checked at 4pm he'd have been here by now but oh well!

Oh best of luck Grin

PhoebeBear · 30/08/2019 22:21

@ReginaPhalange89 when did you have your baby? I was due on the 8th August, went into labour the next day and had him on the 10th

ReginaPhalange89 · 31/08/2019 05:04

Congrats @PhoebeBear ! He didn't keep you waiting too long

He arrived on the 4th! Kept us waiting , 13 days after my due date! But it ended up really quick and easy so not too bad in the end. The latest of my 3 babies, stubborn boy

@ReginaPhalange89 13 days wow! Well finally baby is here- congrats! Enjoy newborn snuggles ❤️ my labour was terrible 24 hours long ended up in forceps and a massive 3 litre blood loss and tear 😣 they're worth it though aren't they x
