Hi all, I need some advice on what to say to my doctor at my appointment tomorrow, I will be 39+5 tomorrow and under consultant led care but have only seen my consultant twice as they are over an hour away (I have a birth centre where I am that I have scans at but can't give birth there due to high BMI) Anyway I had a scan with my midwife last Wednesday and she seemed surprised that I didn't have an appointment booked with my consultant before I was due to give birth (as well as the fact that I had been to the hospital the weekend before due to reduced fetal movements but the consultant was too busy to see me so I was sent home) and rang up and got me this appointment, I'm telling you all this as I really feel as though my consultant doesn't really care about my treatment, she even asked me why I was at my 37 week appointment and I had to turn around and say "well you're the one who booked this appointment so you tell me?". Anyway when I had my scan with my midwife and she arranged this appointment she mentioned that they would probably give me a membrane sweep which I am all for, but I also want to ask the consultant how soon she would be able to induce me as I am having unbearable sciatic pain on my left side to the point where I can barely get out of bed to go to the loo and going downstairs is out of the question, if my partner isn't home then I don't eat or drink as its all downstairs (he does his best to leave me with drinks and snacks by the bed before he leaves) and I had to go downstairs this morning to leave the house but it took me half an hour and a fit of tears and pain before I reached the bottom. I want to know if this pain is going to be enough of a reason for her to want to induce me? Is there like a certain waiting time that you have to go through? Like I said before I live over an hour from the hospital and am staying with family for the next couple of days so that they can drive me to the hospital incase something happens as my partners car recently got written off and we just can't afford a new car right now. The consultant knows this so do you think if I also mention this it would get me induced sooner? Of course I'm hoping that the membrane sweep will do the trick but I really can't do another week or two of this pain it's excruciating and makes me sick. Sorry for the long post but it's a bit of a brain dump
