When did you go into Labour second pregnancy?

So.. I’m 38 weeks today. Second baby. I went into labour first time at 39 + 6 last time, and had her early hours of 37+7. Getting close to my due date and speculating if I’ll follow a similar pattern this time. My waters broke first 2 days before I was due, went into hospital and had a sweep and then things started to happen that night.

What are other ladies experiences of second labour. Has it been very similar, or wildly different? Did you go over or delivered earlier?

Just curious Grin x

I was induced with my first pregnancy (twins) and had them at 36+6 so no idea when I would have gone into labour naturally.
I'm currently 40+5 and impatiently waiting for spontaneous labour and hoping it happens before Monday so I don't have to have a section Sad

Not very helpful at all to you though (sorry)! But interested to see what others have experienced Grin

42 weeks by induction 😏

Labour was a lot quicker though.

When did you have your first? I could have weeks then!! 😂

I had sections for both of mine but my friend had her first bang on due date and second was 7 days late! There really is no guessing!

40 weeks, 1st baby waters went but no sign with 2nd lol. Many failed sweeps, but it was my best labour out my 3.

Hopefully not too long op, everyone is different. Baby no.2 could arrive earlier than your 1st. You must be annoyed hearing this but enjoy the rest lol.

Blondiejay24 · 05/07/2019 19:59

Not annoyed, I’m 30 in 9 days so hoping he doesn’t arrive then, but then hoping he doesn’t go massively over either haha! I can’t have it all though!!

My first arrived at 39+4 and was like you see on TV with waters breaking first, contractions building over a few hours, then the pushing bit.

DC2 was 40+5, I had some lower back pain through the night, which with hindsight was the beginning of labour, then in the morning I had some... it didn't even feel like contractions, more like just tightening across my bump and back. Then I had 3-4 horrendously strong contractions, my waters went with a pop and there he was!

Due DC3 now and a bit nervous about what this one will be like!

Blondiejay24 · 06/07/2019 20:51

WoW your DC2 sounds quick and dramatic!!
They both sound like such different births, I guess there’s no way of knowing!

DD1 40+3. DC2 convinced id go over as felt nowhere near as uncomfortable as I did just before DC1 arrived but he was born at 39+6.
DD1 long difficult labour with forceps and ventouse. DS super quick born at 10am and back home in time for dinner.

Good Luck OP

1st one waters broke at 40+6 and then was induced 24 hours later.

2nd 40 +0 in the checkout queue @ Tescos had first contraction , drove home put shopping away... 4 contractions later water & ds arrived. Nearly drowned the midwife who was just checking for dilation. Didn't even have time for them to set the gas and air up …. much to Dh disappointment

DD was 40+6 (although by my dates she was 40+1!). Went into labour on the Monday night, born on the Tuesday morning. Was possibly in slow labour all weekend as I had preeclampsia and felt like death anyway, so wouldn't have noticed! It was long, horrible birth with a ventouse and episiotomy. All fine afterwards, though.

DS was born at 38+5. He was a 20 minute labour with a small tear along the episiotomy scar, but I had a small PPH and some troubles with the placenta. Neither were pleasant but out of the two the second was better, if only because it was over quicker and I got to go home the next morning! Recovered quicker as well, but I had to because of DD.

kittlesticks · 06/07/2019 21:23

I'm currently 39+5! My DS was born at 41.1 but he was induced at 40+5. Was such a horrible labour, really hoping it's different this time.

Mumanon72 · 07/07/2019 09:21

My 6 year old son was 3 days early. My daughter is 9 days overdue 😭

Blondiejay24 · 08/07/2019 20:12

I’m 38 + 4 now and have been having on off period cramps for a couple of days which is new and now recently diarrhoea (sorry!). I’m not sure I’m mentally prepared again for labour 😂
Has anyone had this go on for a while or is it a sign I might have this baby soon? Confused
