Postpartum bleeding

Hi I'm 11 days post delivery and my bleeding stopped two days ago but has started again today!

They do think I have a postpartum infection and I am on antibiotics but just worries as bleeding has started again and not sure if this is normal and once it stopped with my first born it stopped! I'm hoping it's just because I'm on the antibiotics and it's just my body getting rid of the infection but just seeing if anyone else has had this?

Thanks for reading

I am 3 weeks post partum and still bleeding (second DC) and I thought normal to bleed up to 6 weeks? How did you know you had an infection? Was there a smell/did you have a temp? I'm sure antibiotics will work quickly.

I bled for 7 weeks. After a couple of weeks it was just watery but still definitely there! I think it's totally normal but you could always call your midwife and ask?

It's normal for bleeding to stop and start. In some cases pp bleeding can go on for up to 6 months but most are done by 6-8 weeks.

Things to worry about- bad smell, getting very heavy bleeding, lots of pain.

This sounds normal and you are recovering from an infection.
But if you get more pain or a smell seek advice.

Mine stopped and started up until 6 weeks then I got my first period 2 days later even though I'm breastfeeding 😩

Thanks for replies people I just wasn't sure stop starting was normal but sounds like it can be! I found out there was an infection due to lower abdo pain that was persistent wasn't like afterbirth cramps and doc did some swabs still haven't got results back but she said she will treat as an infection until we know otherwise! Pain is getting better. It still there ha e a phone consultation tomorrow just to say the pains still there! But bleeding has now stopped for now anyways thanks for sharing your stories xx
