Very early contractions. What do they feel like?

Can anyone remember/describe what very early contractions felt like for them please?

Mild period-type pains accompanied by tightening of the abdomen.

As labour progresses the pain is felt more and more in the lower back as well.

Yep, felt like the first day of a bad period.
