Hi there I'm 40+4 and had a show today (still coming out - quite fluidy rather than mucusy - sorry of tmi!), and have begun having what feels like mild contractions, but they are every 3 minutes. I can get through them fairly easily - with a bit of walking of rocking.

I know I went to hospital far far too early with ds1, and plan to wait until they are properly painful this time. My worry is the frequency though, they are so close together. I'm assuming that it is the intensity that is the main factor in knowing when to go to hospital? Last labour was 26 hours of very close together contractions with no dilation for first 20 hours.

Any advice really welcome, don't want to wake up ds1 and cart him over to sil for no reason! Thanks!

Hi,
I'm crap at givign birth and have only done it once so not much adive to give really. But my main impression is if you are happy carrying on as you are then stay at home. At least you can wander about as you like and be comfortable.

Good luck, hope it all goes well.

IME it's definitely the intensity that matters.

I went in when I felt I was getting close to the point at which I might want to ask for PR. The first time around it was far too soon - I had no concept of how much more painful it was going to get, nor of just how high my pain threshold was. I timed it better the second time around .

Hope it all goes smoothly! You'll definitely be meeting your new LO soon

Are you still around? How are you doing now?
How long are they lasting Mrs L?

3 mins apart is good but the length of time is important too.

Try to rest if you can.

Good Luck

im having mild contractions too... since its my first, i read lots about it and got info from my midwife of when to go to hospital. for me, so far, the contractions go away when i walk. from what i read, this is false labour. real labour contractions wont go away even when you are moving around, and they build up.

i hope it helps!
