Hi just a question to anyone who's been through induction . Being induced at 39 weeks at the moment due to GB . had the pessery last night , stronge back to back contractions all night but couldn't get past 2cm so they stopped the induction and have taken it out . Just wondering if anyone's had any similar experience as to what they do next ?? Still waiting to see someone 🤦‍♀️. Will they try again ?? Break waters ?? C section . ? Thanks

Do you mean GD?

If it’s the same as at my hospital 2cm would be enough to progress to the next stage - breaking waters and syntocin drip.

I have had two inductions and both times had really long waits (two nights!) at this stage as they needed a free room in L&D and one-to-one midwife care and they kept getting new admissions in established labour.

Fab yes sorry GD !! Fingers crossed - really don't want a c section x

My pessary worked quite quickly so it's hard to say. When I went in for my induction they gave me a sheet of paper with all the stages of induction and what would happen if it failed. Most likely they will try with pessary again and then possibly break waters. They won't do section unless medically necessary I think ? Not 100% but I think they would only do it if they had too, especially if you want a natural delivery. Good luck! X

I had 2 pessaries 24 hours apart which only got me to 1cm but that was enough to then break my waters and go from there.

I remember when I was induced with my first they pushed a tablet In my cervix

Try & walk about as much as you can, go up & down stairs sideways, is there any chance they would let you go home with the gel or pastry in place? Maybe if you could relax it may get things going.

I was induced - x2 pessary 24 hours apart and nothing. Saw a consultant and given a 3rd pessary 12 hours after the 2nd.
Nil by mouth next day ready for c section if needed. Syntocin drip started at 9.30am. Waters manually broken at 11am. Saw consultant at 2pm, only 2 cms dilated, advised to be checked at 4pm and section if no further dilation. 4pm, up to 8cms dilation. Baby born at 6.30pm.
Induction started on a Saturday morning, baby born Monday evening.

Good luck!

I had 2 pessaries (12 hours apart I think). 12 hours after the second they did a sweep. If things hadn’t started in the hours after that I’d have had the IV, but I didn’t need it.

I had 4 pessary gels, none of which worked. Then they tried to break my waters twice, and I had the syntocinon drip as well. After 12 hours on it, I finally started having contractions but never dilated so I did end up with a EMCS Confused

I hope your induction goes better xx
