Dropped bump and labour?

I heard that a dropped bump can mean labour is soon. I was wondering if I could have anyone's experiences of this, especially first labours?
I've dropped at 31 weeks so hoping that labour isn't very soon!

Anyone?

Hiya, with my first pregnancy my bump dropped about 3 days before I went into labour at 36 weeks but I'm now 29 weeks with my second and baby is naturally lying very low so my bump dropped not long after it first appeared! Check with your midwife if you're worried, and congratulations xx

Baby can move into your pelvis early with first babies and stay there for weeks. Are you sure the baby has moved into your pelvis or do you just mean your bump has dropped? They’re not necessarily the same thing

The bump is a lot lower now, and when she moves it's all a lot lower than before too. I think part of me is concerned as well because I've been having painful Braxton Hicks but my pregnancy apps both say they shouldn't be painful. I'll discuss it all with midwife tomorrow anyway but wanted to know if I'm just worrying needlessly like usual

I wouldn't worry. I've been really low throughout my pregnancy and I'm still pregnant at 39 weeks :)

I was sure my bump had dropped around 32 weeks and read online that with first babies it tends to be around a month before they come which is why most drop around 36/37 weeks if they're going to drop substantially before baby comes. I brushed this off thinking there was no way he'd come at 36/37 weeks as it was too early and he came "on time" at 37+0. For what it's worth, I had my 36 week appointments plus a scan at 36+4 and 36+5, they said that the head was very low when they were doing the scan but didn't anything about "you'll be holding him in 36 hours" so sometimes I think they honestly can't tell, particularly if it's a comparatively quick labour. Mine was all over in 8 hours and we were at the hospital for less than 3. Even if you did go into labour tomorrow there's a high chance baby would be fine now so I wouldn't worry too much.

So midwife had a feel yesterday and baby is head down but not in pelvis yet. So I really am just overthinking everything
I know baby would be fine if born at 36ish weeks, or even now really. It's just she's measuring small and whilst she wasn't ever going to be a big baby because I'm quite small and small babies run in the family it would be nice to get her as big as possible.
Probably also doesn't help I had a miscarriage last year and so I'm convinced I'm going to lose this baby at any second

Sorry your experiences last year are making you cautious with this baby. That must be hard. I'd be wary with reading too much into the measurements as with me the scan we had 36 hours before he was born said he was 5lbs 12oz at that point and he came out as 7lbs and likewise one of our other friends who was due around the same time was sent for a scan at 40 weeks as her bump size hasn't grown in 2-3 weeks and she'd been on the small side all of the way through ... The scan predicted he was 9lbs 6oz and he was born closer to 10lbs.

That's reassuring thank you, I know they're not 100% accurate and I know she's happy and healthy. I also know she'll come when she's ready and if that's early then I can't really stop it
