TMI - periods after childbirth question

After a CS I bled for 3 weeks with the lochia gradually changing colour from bright red to "goo" (sorry ). About 4 weeks after CS, I had a 4 day bleed with small clots and red / reddish brown. I assumed this was the return of normal periods and marked down on the calendar.

Previous to DD, I was a regular 28 day cycle bleeding for 4-5 days, relatively light.

About a week after the end of my "period" & started the mini-pill again, DH and I "done the deed" (2nd time since DD). The following morning, I had started bleeding - absolutely BRIGHT red blood and lots of it (compared to a usual period for me) - and its still going 4 days later - same amount and colour. I'm soaking through pads and tampons in a couple of hours.

Is this normal? I don't want to go to GP only to be told it's a period - how embarrasing would that be?! I feel fine - just starting to get concerned about the amount I've blood I'm losing.

Any advice would be gratefully received. TIA

I had a lot of bleeding on the mini pill as it wasn't 'strong enough' for me, I don't know if thats anything to do with it.
If in doubt go and see your GP as if you've been losing a lot you might become anemic.
