Sweep at 39 weeks, how successful?

I’m 39 weeks pregnant today and had a sweep yesterday at half 1 and was told I was 3-4 centimetres dilated. I have had a few cramp like pains but nothing major, I also had a small amount of pink mucus come away at 3am (sorry tmi) I don’t know if it’s ‘the show’ or just from the sweep? I had some clear discharge also at 3am but don’t think it was my waters breaking as it wasn’t a sudden gush or a slow constant trickle but I don’t know what it would have been. Just wondering what other people’s experiece is on having a sweep in similar circumstances and any advice, this is my second baby but had my first at 31 weeks via emergency c-section so have no experience on what’s to come. Tia.

It really could mean anything I'm afraid. You just need to wait it out. At 39 weeks I had several inductions and my body managed to go backwards, cervix closed back up and tilted to the side Hmm
Your body will do what it wants unfortunately. No amount of sweeps or ball bouncing can shift a baby that doesn't want to be shifted.
However, if your baby is ready (sounds like it might be) I would get some sleep Wink

Hiya, I had three sweeps over the course of last week!
The last one took place on Saturday at 11am and the midwife stated I was 2cm dilated. From there I had steady contractions every 5 mins and eventually gave birth (after having my waters broken and being given the hormone drip) to my lovely little boy at 5pm Sunday 😊
Fingers crossed it works for you

Oh and I was 39+4 at my last sweep Smile

Sweeps are successful if ready I wasn’t offered one with my 4th but as soon as I had contractions 40+5 and went to hospital I was only 2cm dilated and MW gave me a good sweep which in turn resulted in my son being born a few hours later, sounds promising for you! ☺️
