My first labour was horrendous, 32 hours. 16 hours to dilate from 8/10cm. Son turned in labour was told he was back to back and too big for me so he was unable to turn. I then had to push for 2half hours but he was just coming down and sucking straight back up. So after a long two half hours of pushing, being left exhausted they decided to give me an episiotomy, forceps failed and he was delivered by ventouse! I couldn't walk or sit properly the stitching felt like forever! I could feel everything I was in agony and all the doctor was shouting was breath on your gas and air. It was horrendous. I didnt have any drugs as I was 8cm when I got to the hospital but it took16hours to dilate to 10!!! Its took me 8 years to say I want another child, we are trying, it's been 5months but nothings happened yet. Can anyone tell me if they've had a horrific first birth but a good 2nd birth

Sorry for the long story.

I can't say for myself as I've only had the one experience but all my friends have got 2+ kids and not one of them have had the same birthing experience twice. Good luck trying and I hope it's a much better experience for you when the time comes! X

I had a horrendous 2nd birth but went on to have a lovely quick 3rd birth.
Here's hoping you'll have a brilliant 2nd one.

Sorry to hear about your first birth. My first birth was an awful experience as well. Long story cut short ended up with a episiotomy and forcep delivery. Lots and lots of pain afterwards for a long time. Anyway had my second 12 days ago and could not have been more different. Woke up with mild contractions in morning. 10 hours of very mild contractions (so mild I thought I was in false labour). Then pain got slightly worse at 7pm. Dh forced me to go and get checked out by birth centre at 8pm. Lucky I did as baby was born 8.56pm! No interventions, baby born in birth pool, went home next day! Oh and had some stitches but they healed in no time compared to first. Second labour was an absolute breeze in comparison to first. Hopefully it'll be the same for you as well. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, it just felt like the midwife s left things a long time. Fingers crossed 2nd time will be absolutely fine.
