Consultant appt at 39+1

My consultant date to agree a section has come through today for 39+1 weeks (in 5 and a half weeks) and it's put me in complete panic. The consultant wasn't available for my last appointment and they said I'd see her in 3 weeks. I can't speak to anyone until Tuesday at the hospital. Has anyone else experienced this? What happens if I go into labour before ive even met my consultant?

@RChick - yikes, that does seem awfully close, I can see why you're concerned.

I actually had my planned section at 39+2.

I would defo try and speak to your midwife tomorrow and try get in earlier. I saw my consultant at 36 weeks. Xx

Agree that's very late. I had my elcs at exactly 39 weeks.

I'll get on to them first thing tomorrow. If the appointment line can't help, i guess my community midwife is my next bet.

Moved to 37+3 which is much more reasonable. Different consultant but that's not really a concern. Just grateful to know a plan before the real risk of labour starting!

I bet that's a relief. Just so you know, I didn't have any issues agreeing mine at all. Good luck x

Thanks @yakadee. Most of the stories i read online are about resistance to agreeing to it.

Not even a discussion to be honest. She went through all of my notes from my previous labour (actually found it really interesting) and then said I could labour naturally if I wanted to but that she could totally understand why I wanted a section.

Be warned though that you might have another appointment to agree the date. Mine was a few weeks after x
