Postnatal pain down below

This has probably been asked before but I'm 8 days postpartum and experiencing a lot of pain. It's worse when I lie down and I'm really struggling to sleep as a result.

It's definitely a muscular type pain and everything feels quite tight down below which I would imagine is from the stitches if they haven't dissolved yet. I had one stitch for a second degree tear on the right side and the inside is killing me! Kind of feels like everything is very open muscle wise - sorry if TMI!

Just wondering if people who have experienced this knows how long to expect it to last and if they know of anything that could help? Currently taking paracetamol and ponstan and it doesn't really help to be honest so wondering should I call the hospital to see if it's normal or not.

Thanks in advance.

I had a second degree tear on my right side too (although mine was an awkward lateral vaginal wall tear so had tons of stitches) and was incredibly painful with it. Saw midwife at 11 days PP and turns out it was infected which is why I was in so much pain 😖 definitely worth getting checked out just to make sure everything is healing as it should. Hope you're feeling better soon Thanks
