Possible c section scar infection

Had an emergency c section 17 days ago following a very traumatic labour and have been in agony ever since...at first just thought it was normal and everyone told me it was very painful for the first few weeks...however now Im wondering if I have an infection. It seems to be getting more and more painful, the whole area is really tender to touch and absolutely stinks :( also is very painful to pee not sure if thats linked or not. Have booked a doctors appointment today to get it checked out - my worry is that the scar itself looks completely fine, I;m scared theyll take one look and just think im moaning about nothing! But honestly I can barely walk...cant get out of bed without crying now. Also - if they do give me antibiotics - would I still be able to breastfeed? Information online about that seems to vary. Really want to continue as that is the only thing thats actually going well..!

Poor you OP. Yes you will be able to BF.

They are likely to take a swab and send it for testing, you may also have a urine infection so they might be able to start something straight away.

I also bought hibiscrub which you can get in boots. It's a hospital surgery disinfectant. Pop a glug in bath water and soak scar.

Make sure you get it dry after washing, I know there is varying opinions on mumsnet but my midwife recommended hairdryer and that did work for me. My some think it blows dust into it but I never dry my hair so hairdryer never really used!!

See a GP. I had an infection in mine and the scar was fine, it was the area around the scar that was swollen and incredibly painful. I was on antibiotics for 3 weeks and at some point the infection "came out". It was disgusting but better out than in I guess. Get it looked at, you should be able to walk, I couldn't so I know how you feel!

Yes to getting it checked out. Mine got infected when I had my second CS last summer. I was given antibiotics and BF throughout.
