Labouring before planned section

hello

i see there are other threads on here about this but looks like my situation is slightly different.

im 36+5 and due to have a section at 39+1.

however im desperate to try VBAC.

First DC was born at 40+12, emergency cs after 42 hour labour. She was back to back and i only got to 4cm :( She was 8lb 14.

Felt really down about the birth and had a horrible recovery (re-admitted with various quite serious issues)

Anyway, the reason they are wanting to section me at 39 weeks is this baby is measuring over 8lbs already!! (i dont have GD)

so on their advice iv agreed to the section. The consultant however has agreed that if i go into labour prior to this, i can try for VBAC.

so, advice on going into labour early.....

anyone had accupuncture? will i be allowed it prior to term?

is clary sage oil a complete no no?

any other tips?

thanks for reading my massive screed of text!!

I don't know about bringing on labour, but you don't have to consent to a c-section if you don't want one. Presumably you have consented, but could you withdraw that and say you want to try a VBAC? They can't do it without your agreement.

That said, it sounds as though there may be a greater chance of ending up with am emergency section, which is more likely to be like your first experience than a lovely calm planned section. Maybe it's obvious, but I had a planned one and I'm a big fan! Very chilled and an easy recovery. But I was happy with my choice, which probably helped.

In your shoes, I'd follow their recommendation. But they're obviously willing to let you try in the event of early labour - and it is up to you. You can choose not to follow their advice if you want.

Thank you Jimjam.

I have consented to the section on the grounds that the baby is measuring so big. I only found this out on saturday and prior to this i was 100% VBAC.

this is why im hoping to go into labour naturally and the sooner the better (in the hope baby will not be huge).

im 37 weeks tomo so its operation 'evict the baby' from then :-)
