Hi,

I'm considering having a doula at my birth, currently I'm doing hypnobirthing and she also offers doula services. Has anyone had this before and got good reviews? Smile

Yes we hired a trainee doula (didn’t deliberately go for a trainee, but she was much cheaper than qualified!). I met quite a few before deciding. Absolutely loved the close relationship we built up, and having a calm person in the room for the birth (which took a while...) was priceless. She would have done some postnatal sessions with us, too, but my mum was around so I didn’t bother with that.
If you have the money and can find the right person, and are in anyway liable to be anxious - or have an anxious partner - then I thoroughly recommend. Also if your labour takes a while - not that you can predict, but first births are often a bit longwinded - then she can sit with you whilst partner takes a break and vice versa.

I had a postnatal doula first time and I will have her as birth doula for this baby
