What gap between (EL)CS and (attempted) VBAC?

I had DS by planned caesarean (breech) in September. The consultant who delivered him told me to wait 2 years to conceive if I wanted a VBAC. However, I have since read the RCOG, and it says VBAC isn't recommended when there is a gap of less than 1 year between deliveries. I am not sure how to find out more about this. I have a birth debrief in a few weeks, so I will ask the midwife then. Really I'd like to know if there was a particular reason why the consultant recommended waiting so long if I wanted a VBAC, but I don't imagine I'll be able to book an appointment with them. In the meantime, I'd be curious to hear your experiences!

I had a gap of 17 months between my two girls. Had to be enduced for vbac (11 days over). Didn't have any issues but I did push it a bit. They had section booked for Tuesday after bank hol (day 13 over) but I asked for waters to be broken first.

I was told 18 months between deliveries after dc1 was born by emcs. One of my friends was told 3 years...
