3rd labour

I am currently 29 weeks with my 3rd boy. I am starting to get very nervous about labour, my first 2 have gone smoothly, my first was 4 and a half hours with gas & air and episiotomy. My 2nd was 3 and a half hours, again gas & air and a natural 2nd degree tear. So they went quickly and smoothly but I've heard a third labour can be the tricky one, I feel like I've been lucky and surely this will run out. Has anyone got any stories for third labours compared to the first two? Thanks

My first was 4 hours
Second 15 minutes
Third was 2 hours ( would've been quicker but midwife wernt listening )

All 3 of mine were easy but first was my hardest !!

3rd pregnancy was bloody awful, Brixton hicks so painful I thought I was in labour many times. So when I was in actual labour none of us were sure (it was a home birth) the two midwives were in 2 minds about leaving, contractions strong but not as regular as they wanted, then 10 minutes later out comes number 3 and plop, 30 seconds later out comes the placenta. I swear it felt like that scene in monty python, meaning of life, “catch that will you love”.

I worried like you that I couldn’t be lucky 3 times in a row, but I’m blessed with wide hips and a uterus with a bloody great kick ass push that worked of its own accord. I think if you’ve had quick labours you probably have the same experience. Of course it all depends on babies position and your general health at time of delivery, try to be confident and calm and you will most likely be fine. And if not help is never far away.

Btw I recommend homebirths if you have a history of fast labours and a long drive to the hospital. Your body knows exactly what to do, and probably won’t take long to go from first contraction to birth.

I agree with @Fucket About looking into a home birth my second was born in my doctors surgery during a sweep and stretch 😂😂

Fucket · 02/04/2019 21:38

3baby wow, I never knew sweeps could be that effective!

This was a thread from yesterday with very similar question.

My first birth was a horrible induction, second was better, and my third was my biggest and easiest so far. Am hoping number 4 is as easy!

I have three boys too Smile

I don't have quick labours, but I opted for a home birth with DS3 on the advice of my midwife. It was by far my quickest & easiest, about 5 hours, only a couple of whiffs of gas & air needed & no stitches. Wonderful.

My 3rd was the quickest and easiest labour. Hope yours will be too! Good luck.
