Being 40+3 weeks i had my first sweep, slightly uncomfortable not painful in any means that was 9am today since then ive had backache and slight cramping in lower tummy area. I was 1cm dialated so hopefully start of things! Im still unsure if ive felt a contraction yet and this just feels constant, But want to hear others experiences after a sweep Smile

I had 3, with no success.
Induced at 41+3.

Had several (4?) that didn't work. First baby 10 days late, second a week late and third 5 days late. They come when they're ready...

DS1, I had two attempted sweeps, neither worked. I was induced in the end at 40+13.

DS2, I had two attempted sweeps. The first the mw could reach my cervix but it wasn't soft so she couldn't do a sweep. The second was at 40+9, the cervix was slightly soft but she still couldn't do a sweep properly. That was at 2pm ish. I did the school run at 3pm and then couldn't get comfortable at all that afternoon. DH got home about 5.30pm and I felt a bit crampy. By 6pm my contractions were every 3 minutes and he was born at 2.40am the next day (at 40+10).

They come when they're ready or when they're evicted! Good luck Grin

I had 2 with dd1, at about 40+7 and 40+10 ish. First one hurt quite a bit at the time, mw admitted after she might have been overly vigorous (!), went home and spent the afternoon on the ball with some cramping that fizzled out. 2nd sweep did nothing.

Did you ask your mw for your bishop score? Should be in your notes anyway. Mine was 8 or 9 on both occasions, which meant when I went in to be induced I bypassed the pessary stage and just had my waters broken, which was enough to get things going for me.

Good luck!

Sweep at 41+0 at 10am midwife said it wasn't successful as cervix was too high and closed. Had sex that night around 11pm as I read it may help and it did for me. Contractions started at 3am 41+1. It may have been a coincidence but I had no pains at all after my sweep only a few hours after sex

I had 5 sweeps in 4 days at 40+8.

Might be coincidence but each sweep dilated me a cm more. On 40+12 I had my waters broke, sweep and DS2 came flying out 4 hours later
