Painful stitches

Anyone know how long it is normal for stitches to be painful? I’m sure with my DS after about a week they were fine and I was up and about. I’m 10 days after having DD and I’m still in a lot of pain. Can’t stand for long or they are throbbing and can’t walk far. It’s really getting me down as I want to be able to do things with my toddler and wanted some days out while DH is on paternity leave but I haven’t been able to manage it.

I had my first baby and of Jan and had three tears. It took three to four weeks for me to be back to normal and even then I feel so lucky as it was my first.
I know it's hard but don't put pressure on yourself. If you feel there's something wrong though tell your midwife or HV.

Mine were still sore at ten days. Get your mw to check for infection

Get down to the GP and get some antibiotics, as they might be infected - particularly if stinging or throbbing

Thanks. Will make a GP appointment tomorrow and get them checked. They don’t look infected but are quite tight and I’m sure something isn’t matched up right as I seem to have a hole where I shouldn’t!

You may have lost a stitch a bit early if that's the case. That happened to me and the "hole" sort of healed up from the bottom layers of skin upwards. Was weird, but did heal.

Saw the GP who has given me some antibiotics. The pain is worse today, it’s barely if I stay sat down but I’m really struggling to stand up as the throbbing is so painful. It’s really getting me down as I want to be able to get out and about with my toddler.

Give it two days - if it is an infection, the antibiotics will kick in, and you'll start to feel a whole lot better Thanks
